On Proving it to Yourself:

On Proving it to yourself….

Sometimes you work so hard at something not to prove it to anyone else, but just to show yourself that you’ve got it in you. That’s what I’ve been doing for the last couple of months. I just wrapped up planning an incredibly big event. With every obstacle short of a natural disaster that came up along the way (and then it started to rain...). That’s why my wall calendar still says December and my inbox is 2,000 messages deep. Finding a balance between pushing yourself hard enough and  holding yourself to impossible standards is usually one I fall solidly in the loss category on.  I have reserved seating in Perfectionists-Anonymous. But this one I pushed, just to see how far I could go. And what I realized about half way through, was that I was pretty amazing at what I do. And if I could put that much effort into something I was not only good at, but passionate about- I’d pretty much be unstoppable. So pushing myself this time, checked off in the win category. Not because the event turned out great (it did), but because that’s what it took to finally get through to myself.

  1. You are fearsome! An the best part - the things you really care about are going to be way more fun. Go get 'em!

  2. Congratulations on successfully completing an enormous project.
