Modern Country: Without the Horses

Do you dream of a country home to jaunt off to for weekends? Taking in that fresh untouched air, rolling fields and evenings of front porch sitting. Well, I don't--because there are horses there, and there is nothing scarier to me than a horse! But if I did, these lust worthy modern country spaces featured on the Canadian House and Home website would be at the top of my list.

An irrational fear, possibly-but I moved to the city for 1 reason and 1 reason only: no horses. (I personally think the mounted police should be banned for scaring the citizens). I nearly stayed home and under the covers the day this article about a horse escaping from a nearby stable running and wild through the street of DC hit the news. Maybe a little bit of country glam could lure me to the wide open spaces.

No kitchy country decor here. I love the lucite chairs with the simple rustic table.

White-washed siding on the walls mixed with a gramercy-style sink makes this no outhouse.

  1. Love the first picture.. GORGEOUS!!

Understand the fear of horses, but for me it is COWS! There eyes scare me, it is especially bad now that my Mum lives on/runs a dairy farm in New Zealand!

  2. Nelson + Eames? YES! Horses are ok, too. :)

  3. That sounds pretty scary. A horse running wild. I love the black parts to the stairs and the black like tape that runs down the stairs. Love this style.
