I'm a B, I'm a B....You should really go to B

If I was a flower, I would definitely be a hydrangea. If I was jewelry, I would definitely be earrings (strange because I have to force myself to wear them) . If I was a restaurant...I would definitely be Ted's Bulletin. This speakeasy-esque diner/bar/bakery is going to quickly become the jewel of Capitol Hill in my prediction.

Ted's Bulletin
521 8th St., SE
Washington, DC 20003

A vintage 1920's look with splashes of the of-the-moment color de'jour yellow (and possibly the best lighting in the city) only adds to the charm that when you walk in you can simultaneously order drinks and breakfast pastries at the same time.

Yes, I know that technically we've moved on to the new color of the year, but I'm holding out a little bit longer because I just don't think that yellow has gotten it's fair shake yet. Plus, I look terrible in turquoise-so I'm just going to have to skip over 2010 all together.

How could you not love a place where you could order Bloody Mary's, homemade pop-tarts, and mom's lasagna all at the same time. Yes, that's right-the most adorable homemade pop-tarts are made fresh and glazed (with sprinkles!) right in the front window. And make sure to get a milkshake for the road.

I was in this past weekend and saddled up to the bar on for a homemade grilled cheese sandwich (and maybe just a little sample of those Bloody Mary's). I'm just going to put this out there- the fries are the best I've had in a long, long time. If the food isn't enough to captivate your attention, you can watch old movies playing above the bar on retro style wall-mounts.

And that lighting....mmmmm....good lighting make me weak in the knees.

Looking for vintage lighting inspiration? Ready to go even more weak in the knees? Check out this selection at Circa and The Urban Electric CO that could make you cry:

And just because I love it, the Basil Flush Mount

What? You would rather put your $1,500 into a beach vacation than a lighting fixture-me too, right now. This little guy from Home Depot will only set you back $100. I'm not in love with the weird cloudy glass and personally I would spray it a nice smooth copper color. But budgets are budgets sometimes.
