Women to Watch in '09: Design
Ashley Whittaker is an interior designer who describes her style as "a fresh and modern perspective on traditional design and architecture." After a start in special events, she launched her own enterprise, Ashley Whittaker Design in 2006, and was named one of Domino's 2007 Designers on the Verge. In February of 2008 her first solo project was featured on the cover of House Beautiful magazine. Not too shabby for a New York girl with a distinctly classic taste and chic sophistication.
Ashley's NYC apartment entryway has been one of my favorites since I first laid eyes on it. The wallpaper is Rose Cumming's Zebrine.

I want this daybed for myself. I would keep the striped carpeting but tone down the Americana with warm creamy yellow walls and big bold black framed artwork.
I spy my favorite white porcelain garden stool sitting next to those blue and white lounge chairs.
I really like the way Ashley isn't afraid to pair an all over bold carpet pattern with other patters throughout the room. Keeping everything in the same color scheme makes sure your eyes don't go crazy.
