Women to Watch in '09: Business

When sisters Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne opened Georgetown Cupcake in Washington, DC in February 2008 they had no idea they would start a phenomenon. As the first cupcakery to open in the district, there is almost always a line around the block at this tiny little store. Their distinctive pink boxes have become the hostess gift of choice in the city.

With former careers in fashion and business, the sisters teamed up over their lifelong love of baking, passed down by their grandmothers. The Washington Post even declared their Chocolate Ganache cupcakes the champion in their heavily heated: Cupcake Wars.

If you are in the city, make your way over, it's worth the trip. My favorites are the Red Velvet and the Coconut. It really is what they say, "Pure Bliss baked daily."
