Hello, Bold

I loved the spread in this month's House Beautiful about a little Wisconsin Bungalow with a big, bold personality. Not surprisingly the bold striped entryway and zebra lined staircase are my favorite part. But I think what I love most is how the public areas of the house use a very basic black and white palette and striking patterns and the private areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. have a softer floral focus. Designed by Carleton Varney.

This makes me want to install a banquet seat in my kitchen to curl up and read with my morning tea.

Another example of 3 things that go with anything: 1) stripes 3) zebra print/black and white pattern 3) something green/living

A nice bold saturated hue for a little tv room.

The softer side of the house...
Warm wood tones and orange-red hues make for a cozy bedroom.
